Among the Christmas Lights

Yesterday my stomach was rumbling so much by 10:30 that I bagged the idea of a lunch time run in favor of eating. That meant a run around the neighborhood in the evening instead then. I figured this would be a good time to try out my new Brooks Nightlife top. Do I look ready to run in the dark? Me thinks I do!
I've been wanting to tour the neighborhood to see the Christmas lights on the houses, so I figured this was a good chance for me to do it on foot. Sadly, more houses do not have lights up than do it seems. There weren't too many stand outs for me, but I rather enjoyed the red and green lights on this house. Plus - they have a Grinch on the lawn! That wins points for me. I didn't think to take my camera with me on my run though... I had to take a trip to the liquor store later on for bourbon (to brine a turkey in) and port (for cranberry sauce) and wine (it is going to be a boozy Christmas dinner at my house). I drove past and snapped a couple of pictures on my way out to the store instead. The angles aren't great because I didn't want to look like some crazy person so I hid in my car and attempted to take the pictures that way. Right....so that didn't look crazy either... Anyhow, this house below was probably my favorite house on the route.
They win points for decorating with multiple media.
Incidentally, for my little three miler around my neighborhood, here is the elevation profile. Total up = 344 feet, total down = 344 feet.
Today is a rest day, then I have my biggest weekend ever coming up. 10 miles on Friday, 20 miles on Saturday....gulp! Not to mention a Christmas party Friday, another one on Saturday, and Christmas dinner at my place on Sunday...

Hey Leana!!
If you're in Manhattan Beach area, I would suggest just running the strand b/c it's fun and pretty and you will get perfect cool weather!

The strand runs along the beach and starts from Rosecrans Ave all the way south through Redondo beach. It's a total of about 7 miles one way, so you should easily be able to do your 9 as an out and back. Even if you started from Manhattan Beach Blvd. (just giving me a bigger landmark street) that's only about 1/2 mile down into the 7 mile strand, so just head south for an out and back! I think you'll enjoy it!

P.S. I actually live in the San Francisco Bay Area now, but grew up in LA and was there through college. :) Glad I still remember my old stomping ground!

Taking pictures from the car looks stranger than taking them outside the car.
