Soap, Zombies and Other Stuff

Soap

Sunday morning I was off to the pool.  I had a race distance swim on the schedule.  Get in the pool, swim 2000m right away with no warm up, then some speed intervals at the end.  The last time I did this swim was just before GWN.  51 minutes.  It was dismal.

There was only one other person in the pool and the water was smooth and clear.  I jumped in and I was feeling strong and efficient in the water.  It was awesome!  After a few laps I popped up, looked back at my lane and saw bubbles all over the place.  What the..??  Did I track a bunch of soap into the pool?  I started looking at the lifeguards.  Were they going to come over and ask me to get out of the pool?  I just kept swimming and pretended like nothing was wrong but those darn bubbles were all I could think about!  2000m done in 45:10.  I started in on my speed intervals but my arms felt like they were going to fall off so I called it a day a 2300m.

As I got out of the pool I looked around.  It was busier now, with at least one person in each lane.  Everyone was making bubbles as they swam down the pool.  Huh, guess I didn’t have anything to freak out about after all!

Zombie

Holy smokes, I was just a total zombie this weekend!  I guess the short nights and training finally caught up with me.  I felt like I was in a fog whenever people were having a conversation with me.  I was going to go for a run on Sunday since I had missed my brick on Saturday.  When my alarm went off it was too hard to move.  I bailed on the run, slept a bit longer and just went for my swim instead.  After my swim I went for lunch with my folks and my grandmother (who were visiting this past weekend), then came home and crashed for two hours.  Guess I needed that extra sleep!

Prep Time!!

Only one more day of work and then it is vacation time!  So excited…  My trip to Washington isn’t just for the race, this is actually going to be followed up by a fun road trip afterward.  Packing for 2-1/2 weeks when there won’t be any laundry facilities in the middle of your trip makes things interesting.  The middle of the trip when you are hoping to bike and hike and all those sort of sweaty and smelly activities!  I think I’ve got it down though.  I was supposed to do a 1 hour bike this evening but ultimately I really wanted to get started on packing.  Sorry Coach Angie!!

Just about there for the packing now…but poor Finlay knows something is up!  Now that I’m hanging out on the couch he’s turned into a super needy little dog.  It is really hard to type when you have a pup lying on your lap with his chin on your wrist!

Sorry I am behind on a few of your blogs… :(  Between trying to get ready for my trip, plus trying to tie up a few key things at work before leaving I haven’t had much time!

Animals ALWAYS sense things eh? My doggy gives me the most mournful, saddest expression when I leave. :) :)

So, I'm curious as to the logistics of no laundry facilities on your trip. Hmmm -- I think I might have figured your plan out! Are you going to solve the problem by bringing TONS of clothes? Hee-hee!

Have a great time! Good luck!!

That's so cute. My dogs could never care less when I'm leaving for a long trip. I don't think they're smart enough to figure it out. They're always extra sweet when I get home though.
