Apparently I need to resort to lists this week, but what better way is there to string together a bunch of random thoughts? :)
- Boy oh boy, do I wish I could wear sweat pants and yoga pants to work every day. They are so comfy! We do have a dress code at work though, so really…that would be frowned upon. I firmly looked upon leggings with the same aversion that
my thighsI had for skinny jeans. Until I discovered the leggings and dress combo. I kind of feel like I am cheating the dress code since it is so comfortable. Given that I held out on the leggings bandwagon for so long I’m sure they will go out of style soon and I’ll have to wait another 20 years to wear them again. - I met up with Kelly today to run hill repeats. It was 2C, overcast and incredibly windy and I swear that I stared out the window for five minutes trying to figure out what to wear. I opted for tights, a long sleeve shirt and a vest which worked out to be the right combination. We warmed up with a 15 minute run towards McHugh Bluff by the Calgary Curling Club, then proceeded to knock out our 5 x 2:00 hill repeats. If one good thing can be said about the wind, it is that it was pushing us up the hill. We took turns leading – Kelly really knows how to tackle the hills so I enjoyed chasing her, and it was also motivating to pull her up the hill too. Company made a tough workout a lot more fun. We did our cool down run and even ran through a few strength moves – squats, lunges, tricep dips and push ups. These might not have happened if I was on my own!
- Yesterday my dad called and asked me what day I was planning on leaving the Okanagan for home after Ironman Canada. Hard to believe it, but I haven’t done any trip planning so far this year! By this time last year I had all my hotels booked for my Lake Stevens – Washington road trip. Guess it is time to start figuring a few things out…a trip to BC for the WCOC Olympic Triathlon plus maybe a DIY training camp, our Team Tri Life July training camp, and of course my IMC trip!
OK, time to get to the pool!

That is a ferocious hill! One day when I was waiting there for Linda to come get me, I was watching a female rugby team going up and down the stairs. Hopping. One leg for one section, then change legs. All the way up, all the way down. Even the path is pretty good going.
Was that the famous Kelly R?
Ha! I love my Wunder Unders. I wear them almost everywhere now. You're right, they're good under dresses (and also with the Gratitude Wrap).
Wow - nice job on the hill repeats! Okay...so my fashion is NEVER in style :) Although I did catch myself wishing for some longer (not kid like) shorts the other day.... Oh YES - planning for the big IM. Yea!
Leggings are SO comfy!!! And under a dress? Perfect for dress codes.
That hill is terrifying, but you feel so good after it. I really need to get some hill repeats under my belt. And soon!
I totally love that legging look too!!! I'm with you babe -- if we both keep wearing it, it won't go out of style. Hee-hee!! :) :)
Nice that the wind was pushing you up the hill -- hahahha!! Sweet! Great in company too -- I really enjoy the times I get to work out with other people. Triathlon can be a lonely sport!
I like the leggings idea! All about comfy at work. At least we have casual Fridays so I'm in Lulu's today. Shhhh! ;)
I think this time of year could be called "WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?" We've had really warm weather this week (highs of 16-18C) but it's dropping again over the weekend. Boo!
i loove the leggings trend... def comfy. i do not, however, love it on girls who just wear a regular shirt with them! dress = ok, reg shirt that makes me have to see your big booty = not ok. haha. (not to mention those who's leggings are a little more towards stockings/tights on the see-thru scale).
I may have to try the leggings and dress combo, everyone else is doing it =). I'm all for anything that is comfy!
Have a great swim (well, actually, hope you HAD a great swim).
Hill repeats---I should try those someday.
I haven't tried the legging/dress combo yet. Last time I did I was 10 and in grade school, although they do look mighty comfy.
Nice job on the hills!
Wow you are seriosly going o kick some serious a** in IMC.
On the planning thing I'm sure you'll probably find a place to crash and stuff on your own, but if you need to I'd highly suggest Ken Glah's travel group. I used them before and they really help with he logistics, plus if everything around is sold out his could help you get a killer hotel killer close.
Good luck and happy training.
I love my yoga pants, leggings and a sweater dress is the next best thing ...
