At least my shoes match today

Today is off to a good start...I made it out the door with matching footwear on. Hurrah! Yesterday I did get my run in over lunch. I realized that it had been awhile since I had done any hill repeats in a long time. I've run on hilly terrain, but no repeats and the San Francisco race is looming. I figured that this was a good day to cruise on over and run up and down the hill at McHugh Bluff a few times. I can definitely see improvements in how I feel tackling the hill. I can tell that I'm definitely stronger and going faster up the hill. I fit in three repeats and ran back towards the office. I was right outside the Vietnamese sub shop at 3.98 mi and I was so hungry that I bailed on that final 0.02 miles to grab my sandwich and go. In the evening was yoga - another fabulous class. During the final relaxation pose you are supposed to clear your mind and think of nothing. I'm pretty sure that I've either fallen asleep or been pretty close to it during this time at every class. Apparently there is no in between for me on the relaxation front - I'm either going on all cylinders or I'm asleep! Today I've opted for the rest day instead of trying to cram yoga in over lunch. Tomorrow is my SLR... It is scheduled for 6 mi, but I realized yesterday I was supposed to cut back my midweek mileage on these heavy duty weekends, so I may cut tomorrow's run down to 4 mi instead.

San Francisco gets a lot of talk on my blog, but I've kinda glossed over, or not really mentioned, that as soon as I get home from SF I have to unpack, do laundry and repack because I'm leaving for Orlando the next day. I'm heading down with the 'rents for just under a week of vacation to run the Tower of Terror 13K at Disney's MGM Studios. This one is a night time race and I'm really excited about it. Hopefully running won't be too painful after the half marathon the weekend before... There is a ton of stuff going on at Disney World at that time - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (which yes, I'm going to go to, and I'm going to take advantage of the fact that adults can trick-or-treat because I sadly missed out on many years of trick-or-treating revelry as we were living in places where that stuff really didn't happen). Another thing I'm excited about is the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. There are kiosks with food and beverages from all around the world and you run around and sample as much as your stomach or pocketbook can handle. The thing I'm excited about at the Canadian booth is the wine supplier - Mission Hill. These guys are a fabulous winery in Westbank, British Columbia, and it warms my heart to see a great winery from the west coast get profiled out there. Not a lot of wine (in comparison to the huge wineries in the US or Australia for example) is produced on the west coast so most people outside of Canada rarely get a chance to see or sample these wines. Now if only there would be other beer available at Disney World besides Labatt Blue....

Oh the Food and Wine fest. I contemplated running the Race for the Taste 10K, but scrapped that a long time ago. Very jealous, I am.
