I am so excited for this week. The light workouts after the marathon are done and I'm excited to start building intensity back in.
Anyhow, first things first...dinner on Monday night. I gained some inspiration from the latest Food & Wine magazine and made a pork tenderloin and some spaghetti squash on the side. Loved the pork...but the squash wasn't my favorite. I've got a few wines in my basement that I've been hanging on to for awhile. I had a bottle of See Ya Later Ranch 2002 Pinot Noir, which probably shouldn't be cellared for too much longer. So time to open it up. Just out of curiosity I counted how many bottles I've got right now - 80. I don't even have enough rack space... I'm really not sure why I have a 10 lb weight underneath that cart there. One of my favourite things is hanging on the wall above the racks. A little brush with fame that I had back in maybe 1987..??I had the biggest crush on Michael J. Fox back then. We had just flown into Vancouver from Bogota, Colombia and had gone out for dinner at a nearby restaurant. Michael J. Fox is a good BC kid and he just happened to be at the same restaurant. When I saw him in person I pretty well clammed up and just stared at him. Classy Leana. Thank goodness for the nice maitre d' who helped me to get an autograph. I still have the children's menu that he signed.
Back to the workouts... Um...I kind of arrived a bit late to swimming this morning. Oops. As soon as I got in the water I felt amazing. Everything was clicking. I had that same catchy T-Pain song in my head almost the entire time. Every once in awhile a snippet of Beyonce's Single Ladies crept in my head. Um...it is kind of an annoying song...but it did make me swim fast... I love it when things come together in the pool!
Tonight's spin class at Bow was fantastic!! Work was pretty quiet today so I had some pent up energy I was looking to release. It was a workout from the word go - including the warm up. We did some long single leg low cadence intervals...which I loved... We did plenty of stuff in a hard gear and I worked my tail off. I'm not sure that I've seen my heart rate get that high on a spin before, or spend so much time in a high heart rate zone.
Tomorrow I've got a 5 mi run with a cadence drill at the end. It looks like we might get above freezing tomorrow so it should be a good run. Fingers crossed my legs will have some juice in them!

I love with people post food posts! I am surprised you didn't like the spagetti squash - it is usually such a hit. It is the one "exotic" vegetable (as my husband would say) that everyone in our family likes. I was drooling over your wine racks - like a dream come true for me. :)
Yeah for swimming, booo for it being in the morning! I go too but it IS hard to be on time. Try spaghetti squash again but use it like spaghetti, marinara or other sauce of choice - a pasta alternative.
No worries ladies, I actually really do like spaghetti squash, I just didn't care for the dressing that went on top. I'll keep trying though!
If you have been in 'light' training mode, I can't wait to hear what your schedule is like when you really get into it!
Nice wine collection!
You have 80 bottles of wine? I'd never come out of my basement... :-)
spaghetti squash should be treated just like spaghetti, add sauce, garlic, parmessan olive, whatever, = yummy...
If you need to find me, I'll be with Wes in the basement LOL...
That is a lot of wine. Impressive.
i love getting to build intensity back :)
goodness what a little collection you have amassed. i know zilc about wine, so it would be lost on me.
way to go on two great workouts in one day!
OK wha?!?! That's YOUR basement? Daaannngg I know where the par-tay is at ;-)
Wow, 80 bottles of wine. Quite impressive. I've found a little problem with my wine cellar though - in that I'm not consuming as much, and thus...the numbers are staying constant. Not good. I think I should start a Turkey cellar, at least that'd get good use.
And your food looks great as usual!
You are a MACHINE my friend!!! =) Great job on the workouts, you're becoming like a fish in the water!
80 bottles?! That would not last long in my house!!!!
i'm with Marlene, can't wait to see how you do with your intensity builds! You're doing so great. Cute story about Micheal J. Fox! LOL
Um. I LOVE your little wine cellar. Anytime you need to bust open a bottle of pinot, let me know. I have been meaning to head up to Canada ;)
I thought my 20 bottles was a lot!
I love the Michael J. Fox story. Whenever I'd go up to Whistler I'd always think "Michael J. Fox has a home up here!" so I'm there with you on the crush. ;)
