Visions of HTML in my mind

Wow...I can't believe it is after 11 pm already! I spent way too much time fooling around with blog templates and playing around with HTML coding...I tried 8 different templates and I decided I liked my original template the best (partially since it went so well with the header that Runner Susan worked up for me). It is still somewhat a work in progress, so please pardon the dust.

Yesterday we had a forecasted high of 12C, and that to me meant that I could bare some leg and wear capris to work. Since my parking spot is about a 10 minute walk to work I typically wear some type of comfy shoe, then change into something much cuter (but decidedly less comfy) when I got to the office. Turns out that yesterday I would have been better off just wearing heels the whole time as my "comfy" shoes did some good damage to the backs of my ankles.

I had a 3-5 mi easy run on the schedule as well yesterday. And 12C means that I can break out the shorts for a run outdoors. I hit the river pathways at lunch, started off easy, and kept building my pace throughout. All in all, a pretty good run.

This morning it was back to swimming. I was a bit late getting in the pool since I got caught up chatting with my friend Janelle in the changing room. I wasn't sure whether to get in my old lane or the fast lane. Being late, and out of sync, I wasn't sure about going in the fast lane. Rhonda encouraged me to jump in regardless and I'm glad I did. We had a whole bunch of 100m sets to swim and I can tell that I need people to chase after. Or maybe there was a drafting advantage..?? When I was swimming with the group I was hitting 1:56 on each 100m interval consistently. Since I had a few sets left while the rest were cooling down I was on my own for a bit and I was a good 5 to 10 seconds slower.

While jumping in with the fast kids is nerve wracking, I know this is the best way to get faster. Sometimes you just have to face your fears, right?

It turns out Janelle is also planning on racing the Wine Capital Olympic race as well. It will be so great to have a friendly face there!!

I always swim faster if there is someone else in the lane, or in the next lane, that is swimming just a bit faster than my normal pace. Thanks for the tip on the various butters at Community Natural Food stores.

Shorts for running, yes. Shorts for biking? Not quite yet. But soon. I hope.

Drafting or no drafting, swimming a 'step up' from where you're comfortable is good. Riding too, I think. I think it's amazing what you can do if you just try to hang on! You might pass out when it's over or eat your arm but that's OK - that's how we get better!

So how did the "comfy" shoes wreak havoc on the heels?? You may have to plop them over into the "uncomfy" pile lol

glad the weather is finally changing! Sounds like a great swim, and I'm a little fearful of messing around with my template too much as well, but i might soon :) Have a great weekend!

Awesome weather! I'm going to have to start shaving again. LOL!

Good job being brave and swimming with the fast kids again.

I definitely swim faster with other people either in my lane or even next to me. Great 100m pace!!

Blog looks great.

I love Marlene's comment about shaving legs again. I was just thinking about that when I went out for a run in capris on Tuesday! LOL!

I hear ya on losing track of time working with layouts. Hours and hours roll by...and yet it feels like so little forward progress has been made.
