The Juggle

This week is all about juggling work, sleep and having a personal life!

Wow, what happened to summer?  The alarm went off at 4:30 yesterday morning.  I got up, put the running clothes on and took Finlay for a walk.  It was pouring!!  In fact, it was raining enough that Finlay barely wanted to be outside to do his business.  Yeah…I just couldn’t suck it up to run for an hour and a half in that.  I set about switching gears to go swim instead, but there was now no way to make it to the Y when it opened.  I threw the running gear in a bag just in case I could run over lunch and just decided to go in to work early.  It was still raining heavily over lunch.

Sigh…I guess Tuesday would be another rest day!  No way to run in the evening because I was off to see The Lion King!!  Hands down this is one of the best shows I have seen in a long time.  Amazing costumes and terrific music.  Loved it!!!

It was a late night though…no way was I going to attempt to get up at 4:30 to run!  I went into work early and hauled the running gear back into work with me.  Maybe I’d have better luck with a run over lunch?  At about 11 am things looked okay so I got changed and headed out.  It was misting out, and a cool 10C (50F).  I had 3 x 10:00 intervals to run for a total of 1.5 hours.  Since I was running over lunch I knew I needed to cut it back a bit.  The first interval was awesome!!  My bladder was telling me that it wouldn’t make it through the rest of the run, and luckily I was getting close to Tri-It.  After popping in to say hello it was back to the run.  Really this was a perfect weather for the intervals.  It felt so refreshing to be outside!

This evening I finally got to see the latest Harry Potter movie.  Fantastic…best movie of the series yet.  Tomorrow…hill repeats on the bike!  Keep your fingers crossed that the rain holds off enough.  Plus I really need to get to the pool.  Hard to believe it has been over a week since I last swam?!

Always hard to switch gears when you're SET for one thing - I always try to have two bags packed so at least I can get something in! Now get to the pool sister!;)

I've heard mixed things about Harry Potter. I can't make myself sit through the last one, so I guess I'll wait on this one. At least you got the one run in...

Wow, a week without the pool? It's been six years for me. How many hours do you get in a day?

sometimes the rain-excuse is kind of nice though :) hope you are able to get your hill workout in today!

I'm sort of happy about the rain. WAIT, let me explain!! It keeps me from doing something stupid like a long bike ride while I recover. While I don't mind running in the rain, it's pretty easy to use it as an excuse. It's really hard switching gears once you've put your mind to having one sort of a workout. Good that you're getting other stuff done and having fun!

Doesn't sound like very summery weather! Although, I'll take 10C and rain over the forecast we have for Sunday - it's supposed to be 42C with the humidex. And I am going to run 30K in that? Help me.

Good job on your lunch run!

these last few weeks has been all about getting in what I can, when i can, especially when factoring in the weather. Great job!! I've heard that Lion King was great!

It is those times when I have a full bladder I am thankful for living in the boondocks -- I don't even need a bush at times...there are NO people around. LOL!!!

And I am so with you about the weather -- what the heck happened to summer???? :) :)

Good job with the juggling. It's a skill that I have yet to master.

Glad to hear you like The Lion King. I thought it was amazing when I saw it.

Yes, great to hear you took the time to do other things than train and work. Running in 50 degs would probably about kill me now ;-)
