For those of you that don't know....elite distance runner Ryan Shay collapsed at the 5.5 mile mark of the Olympic Marathon Trials on November 3rd. The Complete Running Network is proposing a virtual race - run 5.5 miles on November 17th and dedicate those miles to his memory. I'll be running 6 miles that day - the first 5.5 will be for Ryan, the last 0.5 will be for me.

In other virtual racing news I just heard about the virtual race being proposed by Non-Runner Nancy. It is the "8 on the 8th Run" - run 8 miles on December 8th. Pretty simple really! I was going to run 7 miles that day anyay...but sure, I can bump it up to 8.

I'm all in for the 8 on the 8th...nancy is trying to figure out t-shirts for us too...hehe, love t-shirts.

Thanks for letting me know about the 5.5 miles for Ryan. I'm definitely going to do my best participate. I might even make it to the crazy 8s.
