Well that sucked...

Only one word can possibly describe today's run over lunch - terrible. Well, maybe you could throw awful, stupendous or miserable out there as well. Things looked promising at the beginning - the weather was reasonably warm and sunny and I was raring to go. I was raring for about the first 0.1 miles though. After that my shins started to ache. I've been having some shin splints for the last couple of weeks and I know it isn't my shoes because I've swapped around a few pairs with varying amounts of mileage on them and it hasn't made a difference. The kicker was about 0.25 miles in when I developed some sort of weird cramp or stitch in my abdomen that only hurt when I ran, not when I walked. So I wound up running 2-4 minutes, walking for 1....it was such a disaster until the final 0.2 miles and then it felt almost half decent. I guess that is what I get for taking a couple days off...from mojo to pure suckage in the space of a few days. Can I tell you guys that I'm a bit nervous about my 10K next weekend?

Wow, sorry to hear about your run...errr walk at lunch! Just dust off your mojo and you'll be back to normal. Listen to your body, it sounds like it's talking to you.

Hey, if they all were great runs we wouldn't be striving for better right? I'm sure they will come together and you'll do fine next weekend.

Ok that run really sucked... shin pain, are you doing anything to get rid of it, A.R.T.?

Those really sucky runs made the good ones seem wonderful. Hang in there.

BTW I AM SO JEALOUS OF THE WEATHER YOU GUYS ARE HAVING!

I thought stupendous was a good thing? Sometimes my suckiest runs have happened right before my best races. Don't sweat it, mojo will be back.

And I hope the shins feel better. God, there's nothing worse than shin splints!

Claire - Er, I think you might be right. Oh well, I think engineers are generally universally panned for having language arts skills. Maybe ridonkulous would have been better, except I'm pretty sure that isn't a word...

Stupendous: Of astounding force, volume, degree, or excellence; marvelous, amazingly large or great; huge.

Aw, man, I'm sorry the legs aren't treating you so well! I'm sure they'll be back up to snuff soon though :)

And yeah, I remembered you posting about how you and your mom had such a good time doing the Minnie last year - I think that's part of why I thought it was such a good idea for me and mine! :) Maybe my mom will work up to the Donald or Mickey someday too...

You'll do fine next weekend. Bad runs happen to all of us.
