Going Downhill

Tuesday at 6:15 pm it was time to put a stop to all of this resting. It was time to get to boot camp, baby! Our workout was going to be at Baker Park, which I mapped out as being a nice 3.5 mile run from my house. Downhill. The run felt pretty good, and I hear that training for downhills is important. There is a lot of downhill at the marathon in QC...Boot camp was a pretty good class as we focused on plyometrics and abs. Sheena encouraged us to do the workout barefoot as it would help to really work our leg muscles. I gave it a shot, but once a few sprinkles started to fall it was time for the shoes to come back on. By the time we got to lying down on the ground for ab work the heavens started opening up. Sit ups in the rain...it was kind of a cool sensation but I was also cooling off fast so I was mentally pretty done by this point in time. Luckily the skies cleared up enough today to get a great ride in to work though.

As a final thought on dus....I loved Saturday, and yes, I really want to do more! However finding another one to enter will be the tricky thing. Any conveniently located races conflict with races I've already entered. I honestly did think about running the Footstock Half next weekend on Saturday, then entering a du on Sunday. I realized during the race last weekend that it would probably be a bad idea though. I've looked for races in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan...even Manitoba, Idaho, Montana and Washington. Nothing that works with my schedule from here on out. So we'll see what happens next year. I may try to plan a few road trips for dus. Plus, I should probably get my swimming in gear so I can think about the world of tris. Because there are a lot of tris to enter around here...

Try-a-Tri, I bet you'd be great!

What's with this crazy weather? We are having rain non-stop all week, it feels like fall not spring!

Good luck with your swimming...you'll be just fine.

ohhhh come on over to the dark side...it's nice and fun.

I bet if you found a sprint or a super sprint that you'd be all set to go. You'd be great at it.

It's only one step up from du to tri isn't it??

Boot camp outside in the rain. How fun.
