Progress in the Pool

This morning was a fantastic session in the pool. For starters - I finally got bilateral breathing down! I felt most comfortable breathing on my right side only when I started swimming, and every time I would take a breath on the left I would sink a bit and get a mouthful of water. Yummy. But today it clicked and I was breathing on both sides with equal comfort. We also had to do some pyramid drills - 50 m, attempting to get 5 seconds faster every 2 x 50 m, then slowing back down. Yup, I actually managed to speed up and down appropriately. I felt like my swimming was really clicking this morning!

Sorry for any confusion regarding weather in my last post, but I meant that it was 26 deg C, or 79 deg F. That is pretty fantastic weather for this part of the world at this time of the year. Today is supposed to be our last nice day before temperatures start to drop off slightly. I would love to get a ride in tonight, but sadly won't be able to. Tomorrow night I fly out to visit my folks in Kelowna for the weekend so I've got to do laundry and pack and all that good stuff.

Good for you on the bilateral breathing! For those who aren't already very set in their swimming ways, I think it's a worthwhile skill to learn, esp. for triathletes.

And sorry, I should have known you meant Celsius, being in Canada. Either way, your speed is impressive!

Way to go on the bilateral swimming. Once you get it down it feels so much better and is more efficient as well!

I AM SO JEALOUS! You got the bilateral breathing under control!! Geez, I always breathe on the left side and I almost drown when I try to the right... sigh this swimming thing is hard! LOL

They argued about that in the debate last night. Something to do with bi-laterals. I say if they don't harm anyone, it's okay with me. God dunit!

Nice job on the bilateral, it's a very useful skill to have!

Don't drink the pool water! It's full of pee! Hopefully that will give you incentive to become a better breather, and not just scare you away from swimming altogether. Congratulations on finally getting the bilateral thing down. Being able to breathe to both sides is particularly helpful when you're swimming next to a particularly LARGE breaststroker as well.

Enjoy the weather while it lasts!!!
