The End of an Era

It is the end of my need for pretty, colourful training schedules in Excel now. I had a really nice one that mapped out my training for the Goofy Race and a Half Challenge. I had my entire year mapped out in Excel, telling me what I would be running, any cross training activities that I had signed up for, and of course where holidays and trips fell on the calendar. Planning ahead for the year kind of suits my type A personality I guess! My program from my coach started up yesterday, and it included an easy 5 km run and a 30 minute strength workout. I hit the pathways downtown over lunch for my run. Summer has returned this week and it was really warm out. The run felt good, and while I didn't break any speed records like last week, I felt like I was going at a pretty good clip the entire time. I've noticed some definite improvements to my pace on all my runs now since the Quebec marathon. I was wearing my Strathmore Tri race shirt and wound up talking to a lady as we were walking back to our office building who had done the race as well. Triathletes seem to pop up everywhere now it seems! I did the strength workout once I got home from work. It was pretty basic with step ups, lunges, squats, tricep dips, pushups and core. I then whipped up a quick dinner (grilled turkey and cranberry sausages and a spinach salad with loads of veggies thrown in), then crawled in to bed to watch Project Runway and Wipeout before falling asleep for seven quality hours of shut eye. A definite improvement over the night before!

Gotta love those turkey cranberry sausages - they're a favourite around here.

You could still do up a pretty calendary thing, just plunk your coach's stuff into it if you miss it :)

Oh yeah, and triathletes are EVERYWHERE. One of my bosses is one, I sat by two at the orienteering brunch last weekend.. Two of my running buddies from the Tech Shop group runs, a couple of the Roadrunners boardmembers, EVERYWHERE I tell you.

I use an excel spreadsheet for my running log/training plans. I would be sad to see it go.

Ha! Awesome, and here I thought I was the only one who created completely whacky colorful Excel training schedules.
